My middle and high school years were an important era in my literacy memories. During those seven years of schooling I have read literally hundreds of books. I actually wrote a list once but I could not remember all of the books I had read during that time.
In middle school, I was on a historical fiction kick. I read books such as Catherine, Called Birdy and anything that had to do with Queen Elizabeth or King Henry the VIII. Then I went on to all of the Harry Potter books and the Chronicles of Narnia.
By my high school years, I was reading novels almost every day. I was addicted to reading the young adult novels, of all genres. I also loved reading the classics, Pride and Prejudice and any Shakespearean play. I would sit around and read novels by the handfuls. I am also afraid to acknowledge my past addiction to any novel written that had to do with Vampires during the Twilight era. But on the other hand, that era opened me to world of Stephen King.
My love of reading came from my parents. When I was young, they would read to me every night before bed. I learned to enjoy literature and the world it created in my imagination and in my mind.
